Midway through the 2015-16 season, the Penguins are sitting in forth place in the Metropolitan Division. Pittsburgh is likely to secure a wild-card berth in the playoffs, thanks, in no small part, to the play of Evgeni Malkin. The six-foot-three Russian is second on the team with 23 goals and 49 points, having played two fewer games than Sidney Crosby (24 goals, 53 points).

FANCY STICK WORK

Malkin, wearing a GoPro helmet cam, makes stick drills look like something out of a video game. He uses smooth hands and extreme technicality to find the net after a dazzling display of stick wizardry.

MODEL CITIZEN

Outside the hockey rink, Malkin can be found swimming with big fishes or enjoying the company of Russian television personality Anna Kasterova and a dead-eyed Santa.

For the course of his NHL career, which began in the 2006-07 season, Malkin has tallied 291 goals and 751 points — making for a lengthy highlight reel. “Gino” has been named to the NHL First All-Star Team three times.
