Kings of Instagram: Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake tops in followers among runners

The fastest man to ever set foot on the Earth, Usain Bolt is the only runner in history to complete a “triple-triple” with three gold medals in three consecutive Olympics.

At the Berlin 2009 World Championships, Bolt broke the 100m world record when he clocked in at 9.58 seconds, with a top speed approaching 30 mph.

Bolt’s dominance on the track extends to social media. Bolt races away with the most followers on Instagram with more than eight million followers, which is more than six times the total of the rest of the top ten runners combined.

Reflecting the dominance of Jamaican sprinters over the past few Olympic Games, the top three Instagram stars from the world of running all hail from the relatively small Carribbean island. On their heels is Scott Jurek, who is widely regarded as the top ultramarathoner of all time.
