American Ninja Warrior veterans JJ Woods, Jessie Graff and Drew Drechsel did not disappoint with their performances at the Daytona Beach Finals. All three added new chapters to their still-unfolding obstacle-racing legacies.
JJ WOODS INSPIRES
Miami-based stuntman JJ Woods followed his flawless performance in the qualifiers with another stellar run in the finals — progressing to the final obstacle before his grip gave out on the Elevator Climb.
Woods dedicated both runs to his 8-year-old friend Zoey, who has undergone surgery and repeated chemotherapy treatments to combat stage-four neuroblastoma.
JESSIE GRAFF DOES THE SPLITS
Wearing her trademark outfit that simultaneously salutes Wonder Woman and Spider-Woman, Graff conquered the new Giant Cubes obstacle by doing the splits between the plexiglass boxes.
Like Woods, Graff progressed to the final obstacle where she too made a valiant effort before her arms gave way. She finished as the top female competitor and fourth overall on the night.
DREW DRECHSEL BURNS RUBBER
With the final run of the night, Drechsel prevented Daytona Beach from joining last year’s Philadelphia Finals as the only ANW obstacle course to go unconquered.
Drechsel’s buzzer-tapping finish was the nice exclamation point to what was a de facto homecoming for the gym owner who used to work as a used car salesman in Florida. His Daytona Beach triumph makes him a clear favorite to lead the way at the Vegas National Finals in a few weeks.
