Montreal Canadiens winger Maurice “Rocket” Richard was not only the first player in NHL history to score 50 goals in one season (accomplishing the feat in 50 games in 1944–45), and the first to reach 500 career goals, but he also happens to be the first name in our NHL Name Game.
NHL NAME GAME
The premise of the NHL Name Game is simple: make the longest string of players in which the preceding player’s last name is the next player’s first name. With considerable help from the Hockey Reference website, we were able to construct a chain seven players long — Maurice Richard 🔗 Richard Scott 🔗 Scott Gordon 🔗 Gordon Mark 🔗 Mark Stuart 🔗 Stuart Percy 🔗 Percy Jackson.
