Mo’Ne Davis is just 13-years-old, but already possesses a fast ball that can exceed 70 mph on the radar gun. On Saturday, the Taney Dragons pitcher allowed Delaware only three hits on way to a 8-0 shutout win and a berth in the Little League World Series.
“No matter who you are, you should be able to do what you like to do and what you've always dreamed of doing.”
— Mo'ne Davis, 13-year-old Little League pitcher
While Mo’Ne isn’t the first girl to play in the Little League WS (there’s been 17 others in its 68-year history), she is the almost certainly the first to use Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)” as her walk-up song.

PIONEER POWWOW
Last year, Mo’Ne — who has played with the Anderson Monarchs travel team ever since she was a 7-year-old — got the chance to meet another pioneering baseball player before a road game in Virginia.
Mamie “Peanut” Johnson, the first and only female to take the field in the Negro Leagues, boldly predicted that Mo’Ne too will one day play in the big leagues. Who knows, by that time she may be joining Chelsea Baker there.
