The 2015-16 Golden State Warriors continue to rack up NBA records in their pursuit of the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls lofty mark of 72 wins in a season. They started the season by winning their first 24 games, which set a new standard of excellence among major professional sports in America, and they haven’t slowed down since.

With their 125-107 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, the Warriors became the fastest team in NBA history to reach 60 wins. They also became the first franchise to record 49 home wins in a row, besting the ’96 Bulls by five games.

On his 28th birthday, Steph Curry went 4-9 from beyond the arc and led all scorers with 27 points. Before the game the reigning NBA MVP was serenaded by his impossibly-cute daughter Riley.

CURRY FLURRY

As impressive as the Warriors win total is, Curry’s offensive contribution to the team — particularly in the realm of three pointers — is even more unprecedented.

Curry broke the previous record of 286 3-pointers, which he set last year, with 24 games remaining. Now with 16 games remaining, Curry has a total of 322 treys and still has a realistic shot at breaching 400 for the season.

“I hope to keep getting better, that's the mission, and I'll never be satisfied with where I'm at. I always want to find different ways to improve. I guess I'm officially in my prime, but we'll see how far this thing can go.”

— Seth Curry, on turning 28

Against the Pelicans, Curry and Klay Thompson surpassed their previous NBA record for most 3-pointers by teammates during a season and now have 531 — six better than last season’s record haul.

RUNNING WITH THE BULLS

The Warriors will have to finish the season 13-3 or better in order to break Chicago’s 72 win total. The good news is 10 of the games are at Oracle Arena where the Dubs are undefeated thus far. The bad news is they still have three games left with the San Antonio Spurs, including two on the road.

Further complicating the Warriors’ quest for 73 wins is Andre Iguodala’s recent ankle injury that is expected to keep him off the court for at least two weeks. Can Brandon Rush step up his game?
