Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is not resting on his laurels after leading the NFL in rushing yards by a wide margin last season. In fact, his pre-season workouts have taken on a distinctly superheroic flavor that would make Stan Lee proud.

CAPTAIN AMERICA’S SHIELD

Marvel’s “Captain America”, which debuted in the Spring of 1941, is the story of a superhero commissioned to penetrate enemy defenses. Aside from his freakish fitness by way of super-soldier serum, Captain America possesses a disc-shaped shield which he can hurl to great destructive effect.

McCoy debuted for the Philadelphia Eagles in the Fall of 2009, as a super running back tasked with wreaking havoc upon NFC East rivals. Aside from his dazzling speed and ankle-breaking cutbacks, he can chuck a disc-shaped 45-pound weight downfield from a seated position.

DAREDEVIL’S BLINDNESS

In Marvel’s “Daredevil” comic, Matt Murdock is blinded by a radioactive substance he encounters in New York City. As the titular superhero, he’s able to employ his remaining senses to handle anything thrown his way.

In McCoy’s Twitter post he is blinded by a black scrap of cloth tied around his head at the Eagles training camp in Philadelphia. He uses his highly-accurate route-running skills, and soft hands to catch balls thrown his way.

IRONMAN’S ARMOR

In Marvel’s “Iron Man” comic, Tony Stark, a billionaire engineer, designs a powered suit of armor which includes a helmet able to withstand severe impact.

McCoy, a millionaire athlete, wears a Xenith X2 helmet able to withstand crushing blows from defensive linemen, linebackers and safeties.

HULK’S STRENGTH

When Marvel’s Bruce Banner gets riled up he turns green and insanely strong as his alter-ego, the Hulk. When McCoy gets riled up he dons green Eagles’ shorts and flips tractor tires two at a time as his alter-ego Shady.
